A megalithic site for the cultivation of vines is a fascinating testimony to the technical skills of a people in the era of passage between the Bronze and Iron Ages.
In the wood of Varchignoli there are powerful stone walls 5-6 meters high that support the terraces on which prehistoric man cultivated the vine.
You can admire underground niche rooms and tunnels draining rainwater probably dating back to the thirteenth century B.C. The terraces exposed to the south, are reached through narrow stone stairs obtained in the structure of the wall.
The megalithic area of Varchignoli is accessible to all walking in the forest paths above Villadossola.
